Around the World Father's Day Card

Little ones will be fascinated to learn how kids in different countries say "dad" or "father." (Who knew that "tata" is used in both Romanian and the Xhosa language of South Africa?!) Pick a few of your favorites for a truly "around the world" Father's Day card.
What you'll need
- Green cardstock cut to 8 ½" x 5 ½"
- White computer paper
- Star stickers
- Adhesive, such as double-sided sticky tape, glue stick, liquid glue or mini glue dots
- Paper trimmer or scissors
Use the star stickers to fill in a space, or to indicate the name you call your dad. Choose words that are short, medium and long. This gives you more choice when you are arranging the strips on the card. Here's how people say "dad" or "father" in different languages: Portuguese = pai Chechen = da French = papa, pere Italian = babbo Romanian = tata
How to make it
Fold green cardstock in half.
Use the Internet or a resource book to learn how to say "dad" or "father" in different languages. (See our list below to get you started.) Or, ask people you know who speak different languages. If you like, include English variations too, like "pops" and "pa".
Print the words onto the white computer paper, using different colors and fonts. Make sure to use a font size that's about ½" tall. Leave lots of room around each word so you can cut them out easily.
Cut out the words so you have strips of paper about ¾" wide. Don't worry if the strips aren't perfectly straight!
Arrange the strips on the green cardstock until you get the look you want. Glue the strips onto the cardstock.
Accent the words with a few star stickers.
Write, stamp or glue your Father's Day greeting inside.
