Cardboard Guitar
Total Time 1 hour Ages school-age

Create a buzz at your superstar's next party by having guests customize their own guitars, perfect for a rockin' good party.

What you'll need

  • Sheets of corrugated cardboard (we used the sides of large moving boxes)
  • Craft knife
  • Hot glue
  • Markers
  • Colored paper
  • Glue stick
  • Duct tape
  • String
  • Double-sided tape
  • Gems, buttons, and other decorative items
  • Glue dots

How to make it

  1. Draw a guitar body on a cardboard sheet (our bodies were about 16 inches long). Score the lines with a craft knife, then cut out the shape. With hot glue, attach it to a second sheet of cardboard, then cut around the shape to form a double-layered body. (The two layers make the guitar sturdy, but a single layer will do in a pinch.)

  2. Cardboard Guitar Step2

Cut two 2- by 18-inch cardboard strips for the neck and a 6-inch-long headstock (the piece with the tuning pegs). Assemble and glue the pieces together as shown.
