Packing layers of oatmeal-and-chocolate cookie ingredients into a glass jar looks pretty and is perfect as a gift or party favor.
Materials listed makes a 1-quart jar of cookie mix.
Mix together and add as the first layer, at the bottom of the 1-quart mason jar:
· 1 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
· 1 teaspoon baking powder
· 1 teaspoon baking soda
· 1/2 teaspoon salt
For the second layer, carefully pour and spread 3/4 cup cooking oats.
For the third layer, pour in (and spread around) 3/4 cup chocolate chips.
For the fourth layer, add 3/4 cup chocolate-coated candies.
For the fifth layer, add 1/2 cup brown sugar (packed).
For the sixth layer, add 1/2 cup white sugar.
For the seventh layer, add 1/2 cup chopped walnuts.
Decorate your mason jar filled with cookie mix with a printable label, gingham fabric square underneath the lid, and a raffia ribbon, as shown. Or decorate however you like.
To bake the cookies, add the entire jar of ingredients into a mixing bowl and then add:
· 1 large egg
· 1/2 cup butter or margarine
· 2 teaspoons vanilla
Mix all ingredients together, and place a walnut-sized balls of dough evenly on a lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake for about 8 minutes at 350 degrees.
