  • 3/4 cup cooking oats

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1 quart mason Jar
  • 1 6-inch square of gingham, or other country/cowboy fabric (optional)
  • Raffia or other ribbon (optional)
  • Printable label (optional)

How to make it

  1. Mix together and add as the first layer, at the bottom of the 1-quart mason jar:

      · 1 1/3 cup all-purpose flour

      · 1 teaspoon baking powder

      · 1 teaspoon baking soda

      · 1/2 teaspoon salt

  2. For the second layer, carefully pour and spread 3/4 cup cooking oats.

  3. For the third layer, pour in (and spread around) 3/4 cup chocolate chips.

  4. For the fourth layer, add 3/4 cup chocolate-coated candies.

  5. For the fifth layer, add 1/2 cup brown sugar (packed).

  6. For the sixth layer, add 1/2 cup white sugar.

  7. For the seventh layer, add 1/2 cup chopped walnuts.

  8. Cowboy Cookie Mix

Decorate your mason jar filled with cookie mix with a printable label, gingham fabric square underneath the lid, and a raffia ribbon, as shown. Or decorate however you like.

  9. To bake the cookies, add the entire jar of ingredients into a mixing bowl and then add:

     ·  1 large egg

     ·  1/2 cup butter or margarine

     ·  2 teaspoons vanilla

Mix all ingredients together, and place a walnut-sized balls of dough evenly on a lightly greased cookie sheet.  Bake for about 8 minutes at 350 degrees.
