Briana Moorhead of Eden Prairie, Minnesota, fondly remembers how, on the night before Valentine's Day, her parents would wait until she and her sister were asleep, then tape ribbons with hearts on them from the top of their bedroom door frames. Some hearts had smiley faces or stickers on them, but Briana's favorites bore cheerful reminders of her parents' affection. "We'd wake up and open our doors to see 'We love you, Pumpkin' or 'You're our little Lovebug.' My sister and I enjoyed those curtains so much that we kept them up for at least a month!"

Cut heart shapes out of the colored paper, some a bit smaller than others. Tape the smaller and larger hearts together, as shown, and write your Valentine message on them.

Tape the hearts onto a length of ribbon, and tape (or tack) the ribbon, like a curtain, onto your child's bedroom door frame.
