Rip off a small piece of yellow tissue paper and roll it in your fingers to make a ball. Cut a piece of yellow tissue paper 2”x2”. Put the ball of tissue paper on top of the stick, put the flat piece of paper over the ball and wrap floral tape to secure.
To make a petal, cut a rectangle out of tissue paper. Fold the rectangle in half and round the top. Angle the bottom corners to taper the bottom.
The petals do not have be cut in a uniform manor or be very exact.
Cut 5 small petals (2”x1.5”), 5 medium petals (2”x2”), and 5 large petals (3”x3”).
Pre-cut 15 little pieces of floral tape. Starting with the small petals, place a petal on the stick and secure it with floral tape.
The tighter you pull the floral tape, the stickier it gets. Be careful not to pull the floral tape so hard that you break the stick (not that I did that – ahem).
Overlap each petal a little bit. Work from the smallest petals to the largest ones.
Once you have all the petals taped, start from the outside petals and gently tug the petal out to shape the flower.
If you would like, use floral tape to attach ribbon to the bottom of the flower.
To make the leaf, fold a green piece of tissue paper in half, and cut a leaf shape. Open the tissue paper to reveal two attached leaves. Wrap the leaves around the stick and glue.
Let the twirling begin!
