Send friends and family news they can use.
Begin by writing up a 1-page report of your clan's news, leaving out words here and there. Next to or underneath each blank underlined space, specify which part of speech you want your readers to supply. You can be as specific or as general as you want: you might ask for something broad, such as an adjective, or narrow, like a number, a body part, or even a sound. Just don't leave out the important details (a vacation destination, for instance), since your ultimate goal is to share what happened over the past year. (Tip: Double-space so recipients have plenty of room to fill in the blanks.)
Print copies on 8 1/2- by 11-inch paper with a holiday border (available at stationery, craft, and copy stores) or take it to a copy shop and let them do it for you. Be sure to set your margins to accommodate the design on the paper.
