Heart Treat Holder
Ages 5 to 8

What you'll need

  • 1 sheet red or pink card stock
  • 24-inch piece pink or red thin ribbon
  • 6-inch by 12- inch piece of pink or red tissue paper
  • hole punch
  • candy for filling
  • Heart Treat Holder Pattern
  • stickers (optional)
  • markers

How to make it

  1. Print and cut out the Heart Treat Holder pattern.

  2. Use the pattern to cut out 2 hearts from the cardstock. A quick trick is to fold the card stock in half, trace the pattern onto the top half of the card stock, and cut 2 hearts at once.

  3. step 3

Use a hole punch to punch holes every 1/4 inch around the border of the heart. Match both hearts up and punch holes in them at the same time, so that the holes match up. Use the pattern as a guide: start where the first hole is marked on the pattern with a black dot, then go around the bottom of the heart, and stop where marked on the pattern.

  4. step 4

Thread the ribbon through the holes; leave about a 6-inch tail on the end.

  5. step 5

Once the ribbon is threaded, cut the ribbon ends so both are equal (about 6 inches each), and tie them into a knot.

  6. step 6

Tuck the tissue paper into the heart; you can glue it to hold it in place if you prefer.

  7. Optional: Decorate your heart with a couple of stickers, or use a marker to add a message such as: "I Love You", or "Be Mine, Or, you can come up with a message of your own.

  8. Fill the heart with candy or notes to give to your sweetie on Valentine's Day.
