I Am Sew Thankful!
Total Time 1 hour Ages school-age

With this simple embroidery project, your child can tailor a postholiday thank-you to everyone on her list.

What you'll need

  • Card stock
  • Pencil
  • Embroidery floss
  • Dull sewing needle
  • Tape
  • Eraser
  • Glue

How to make it

  1. Step 1 - I Am Sew Thankful!

Write a short phrase in pencil on a piece of card stock. Using embroidery floss and a dull sewing needle, sew over each letter to cover the pencil lines. For curved letters requiring several stitches, sew in one direction, then reverse and sew through the same holes to fill in the empty spaces (as shown). It's best to sew each letter individually. Tape the ends of the threads to the back of the card stock.

  2. Once the message is sewn, erase any visible pencil marks, then glue the note to a larger, folded piece of card stock.
