What you'll need

  • One sheet of black felt (for 2 barrettes)
  • Printed template
  • Scrap of pink or red felt (for a Minnie barrette)
  • Hot melt glue (should be used by adults only)
  • Barrettes

How to make it

  1. Trace the head and ears template onto black felt. You will need 4 heads and 8 ears cut from black felt to make 1 hair barrette.

  2. Place a drop of hot melt glue in the center of one head circle and fold the circle in half.

  3. Lay a head circle down flat and glue the half circle to one half of the flat circle.

  4. Glue a third circle in half, then glue it in half again.

  5. Glue the quartered circle to the center of the flat circle so the folds stick up.

  6. Glue the forth circle in half, then glue it to the remaining half of the flat circle.

  7. Repeat steps 2-6 for the ear circles.

  8. Glue an ear to each side of the head.

  9. If you wish to make a Minnie barrette, trace and cut the large and small bow from pink or red felt. Glue the small bow on top of the large bow. Then glue the bows to the top of the head, between the ears. Glue a barrette to the back of the head. Wait for the glue to dry completely before you clip the barrette into hair.
