Monster Teeth Flag Banner

Yikes! Here’s a Halloween wall decoration with some real bite. A flag banner, also known as bunting, is a popular party decoration. But for Halloween, those little triangular flags look like monster teeth when they’re paired with a set of purple googly eyes. This fun decorating idea will have everyone, including the monster, smiling.

What you'll need

  • 10 sheets of 8 ½ x 11-inch white cardstock
  • Black string
  • Brown stamp pad
  • Two sheets of purple craft foam
  • One sheet of green craft foam
  • Craft glue
  • Tape

How to make it

  1. Step 1

Cut each 8 ½ x 11-inch sheet of white cardstock in half so you have two 5 ½ x 8 ½ inch pieces. Then cut a triangle from each of these pieces. You’ll want to make 9 or 10 triangles all together.

  2. Step 2

Monsters are usually too busy scaring people to care about proper dental hygiene, so we want the edges of the teeth to be a little brown. (Gross, huh?) Rub the edges of each triangle along a brown stamp pad. Smudges are good, so don’t worry about being too careful.

  3. Step 3

Tape some string along the backs of the triangles, at the top, with about a half an inch between each triangle.

  4. After you’ve strung together 9 or 10 triangles, tape the far left and the far right triangle on the wall to create a smile.

  5. Step 5

To create the eyes, trace two large circles onto the purple foam sheets using a dinner plate, and two smaller circles onto the green foam sheet using a smaller salad or dessert plate. Cut where you’ve traced the circles.

  6. Glue the green circles onto the purple circles, and tape these “eyes” to the wall above the smile. Have fun with the placement of the eyeballs. You can make the monster cross-eyed or crazy-eyed.
