What you'll need

  • Athletic Games torch pieces and templates
  • 2 sheets orange tissue paper
  • 1 sheet yellow construction paper
  • 1 paper towel tube
  • Glue / double-stick tape

How to make it

  1. Print the template on regular paper or cardstock and cut out the pieces.

  2. Fold all tabs on the base and secure them to the white side of one base bottom to form a cylinder. Close the cylinder using the tab at the end.

  3. Glue the second base bottom to the underside of the first one so that the tabs are hidden.

  4. Place double-sided tape on the inside edge of the handle. Wrap the handle around a paper towel tube and use the tape to secure the handle. Cut off the excess paper towel tube.

  5. Trace the outer flame template onto a piece of yellow construction paper. Fold a sheet of orange tissue paper in half. Place the outer flame template at the bottom of the tissue paper where the fold is and trace the template.

  6. Place the yellow flames between the orange flames. Spread glue over the bottom of the flames .

  7. Curl the flames into a circle and gently place them inside the base, pressing the flames into place.

  8. Fold a sheet of orange tissue paper in half and trace the inner flames starting at the fold of the tissue. Curl the tissue and tape the ends together. Glue the bottom of the curled tissue to the center of the torch base.

  9. Glue the torch base to the handle.
