For the artist in the house, here is a wall treatment that looks good enough to be in an art gallery. The paper plates give your room a big pop of color, and how you decorate each plate is up to you. Putting the same design on each plate, but in a different color, pulls the whole piece together. But as the artistic genius, you already knew that.

First, let’s paint the design on each plate. Draw your design on a piece of paper, and then trace it onto a sponge. The sponge will act as your “stamp” so the design looks the same on every plate. Of course, if you’re going to do something simple like a hand print, then you won’t even need to create a stamp. (paperplates1.jpg)

Cut the shape out of the sponge.

Apply paint to one side of the sponge stamp with a paintbrush

Turn the sponge stamp over and press the paint side down onto a paper plate.

The sponge will create an uneven, speckled texture. If you would like a smoother look, go over the shape with a brush.

Mix and match paint colors with paper plate colors, and apply on the wall with removable double sided tape.
