Hold tiny treasures in these polymer clay pinch pots with a trendy neon accent.

What you'll need

  • Polymer clay in neutral and neon colors
  • Clay shaping tool with rounded end (optional)
  • Disposable foil or wax paper for work surface
  • Metal or glass baking surface
  • Oven

How to make it

  1. Pinch off polymer clay

Protect your work surface with disposable foil or wax paper. Pinch off a piece of polymer clay in a neutral color. I chose one with a stone-like texture. Condition the clay by pinching it and squeezing it in your hands until it is soft.

  2. shape the clay into an egg and make a well

Roll the softened clay in your hands and make an egg shape. Use either a clay shaping tool with a rounded end or your finger to push a well into the center of the clay.

  3. widen the opening of the pot

Use the tool or your finger to gently widen the opening of the pot.

  4. Make a neon clay snake.

Working on a clean area of your work surface, pinch off and condition a small piece of neon colored clay. Roll it into the work surface to make a "snake."

  5. add neon clay to the rim of the bowl

Place the neon clay along the rim of the bowl.

  6. Pinch and shape the sides of the pot

Use your fingers to pinch and shape the sides of the pot.

  7. even the top of the pinch pot

To even the top of the pinch pot, you can flip it over and lightly tap the bottom of the bowl.

  8. pinch pot with neon accent

When you are happy with the size and shape of the pinch pot, folloow the manufacturer's instructions to bake and harden the clay.
