Steer arriving guests into your driveway with a checkered victory flag attached to your mailbox or lamppost.
To make one, start with a 9- by 12-inch sheet of thin white craft foam. Fold the foam an inch in from one of the shorter sides and staple it along the edge and the top to make a sleeve for inserting the top of the flag handle (a dowel, 3/8 inch in diameter).
To create a checkered pattern, stick on 2-inch squares of black cloth tape in staggered rows. Or just draw on squares with a permanent black marker.
