How to make it

  1. Cut a magazine or catalog page lengthwise into strips (ours are about 2 inches wide).

  2. Lay a strip, facedown, on a piece of waxed paper. Set a marker at one end of the strip, then roll the strip around the marker once and use a glue stick to secure it. Coat the rest of the strip with glue and tightly roll the strip around the marker. Apply more glue, if needed, to hold the end in place. Slide the bead off the marker and let the glue dry completely. Repeat with the remaining strips.

  3. Cut the beads into smaller pieces as shown, then help your tot string them onto on a length of ribbon, yarn, or string (we used Stretch Magic jewelry cord).
