Streamer Bed Curtains
Total Time 30 minutes or less Ages school-age

When Molly P., age 8, from Huntington, New York, asked for a canopy bed, her mom, Helen, came up with this clever substitute. Once they had purchased the streamers, the project took about 15 minutes and cost only $8. Says Molly: "I like being behind the curtain because it makes me feel cozy in there."

What you'll need

  • 6 rolls of colorful streamers (available at party stores)
  • Tape
  • Scissors
Helpful Tip:

Pull the curtain back each morning and tie it to the side with a little piece of streamer.

How to make it

  1. Test your ceiling to make sure that your tape (Helen and Molly used Scotch tape) will stick and hold the streamers. If the tape doesn't hold, Helen suggests using pushpins.

  2. Stand on the bed and tape the streamers to the ceiling. Have your child cut them at the bottom near the floor.
