Constellation Collaboration
Ages preschooler

Traditional myth-based constellations are so 2000 B.C. Grab a partner or two and make up your own celestial pictures in this creativity-boosting game.

What you'll need

  • Star stickers
  • Paper
  • White marker

How to play

  1. Constellation Collaboration Step 1

Each player starts by randomly placing a number of star stickers onto a piece of paper.

  2. Players then swap their starred papers with one another and, on their new paper, draw lines between the stars to make an image. (We used a white marker.)

  3. Constellation Collaboration Step 3

When everyone has finished drawing, players take turns describing their new constellation. We've been told that the little-known Great Whale of Newport constellation, shown here, honors a whale who defeated a band of pirates.
