Add a little mystery to your family history with a common journal that gets hidden in the most surprising places.
Print the words "read me" on the cover of a blank notebook and attach a pen with a piece of string. Inside, include a written invitation to read and write entries and a reminder not to be too clever when hiding the book -- you do want someone to find it.
Write the first account and then hide the journal in a spot -- in a laundry basket, under the kitchen sink, in the mailbox -- where someone in the family is likely to find it. Whenever someone comes across it he or she can write about some family news before hiding the book in a brand-new place for the next person to find.
