Family reunions mean "Camp-out Time" -- even if it's only in your own backyard! Fun, games, fresh air -- and inexpensive -- camping is a tried-and-true way to extend your extended-family time together.
Yet backyard "camping" offers convenient bathrooms, air conditioning, and other nearby amenities -- especially welcome for the very young and very old -- while offering the extra activities (and extra space) you can enjoy in the great outdoors!

In fact, you can serve every meal, or snack, or dessert, buffet-style as a "bar," to minimize set up, cooking time, and satisfy any big- and/or picky-eaters.
Like hamburger and hot dog bars, burritos / tacos / taquitos / nachos bars are really easy to do.
Cook or warm the main ingredients (meats and beans), set out the fresh ingredients, and let everyone make their own meals!

Another engaging & creative family activity -- and treat -- is a Make-your-own Caramel Apple Bar.
Keep the caramel warm in a crock pot, and set out bowls of small chopped nuts and candies for your family to pick their favorites! Make a memory your kids will never forget!

With a laptop, printer, scrapbooking papers, and inexpensive photo albums (check your local family, dollar, or "big box" stores), you can make your own family cookbook!
Encourage everyone to bring a few family favorite recipes to share and include inside.
In the photo album/cook book, you can insert family photos, or family tree information, also, to make an extra-special family heirloom.

Be sure to schedule at least one big (or a few smaller) activities that everyone can enjoy every day...
Here's a toughie for the kids:
(1) Find your shoes in the pile. And,
(2) Put them on -- fast!
Combine "Capture the Flag" with "Hide-and-Seek" (and add rainbows!) and what do you get?
Who can catch the "Firefly?" At night, find the person with a flashlight -- who flashes it on every few seconds... Whoever finds her gets to be the next Firefly!
Enjoy a fun and memorable family reunion!
