WHAT IT IS: A team competition to build the first 5-foot-tall snowman
This is a fine game for shaking off the chills, as it gets everyone working.
We began this snowman-building contest as a relay race, with each player on the team taking a turn rolling the snowball back and forth between two lines on the field. The relay approach would probably work with teams of older players, but we found that our younger contestants couldn't push the big balls by themselves. So we changed the rules: The entire team could help roll the balls. The winner was the first team to create a 5-foot snowman (we had a premarked measuring stick handy).
