Meatballs and Spaghetti

This Italian favorite never fails to delight for dinner.

What you'll need

  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup minced Italian parsley
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 1 teaspoon basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper

How to make it

  1. Heat the oven to 350º.

  2. Put all ingredients in a large bowl and mix everything together with your hands.

  3. Form the mixture into walnut-size balls. Place them on ungreased cookie sheets.

  4. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes until moderately browned.

  5. If you will not be eating immediately, let the meatballs cool. Place them in a resealable freezer bag. Label and tape the bag to the container of Simple Sauce. To serve: Pour sauce into a large saucepan. Add thawed meatballs and simmer everything on low for about 10 to 20 minutes or until warmed through. Meanwhile, boil and drain I to 1 pound of spaghetti. Toss the spaghetti with some of the sauce. Top each plate of spaghetti with additional sauce and meatballs. Serves 5 to 6.
