Here's a fun way to welcome your guests to your rain + umbrella party!
Cut foam core board (check your local dollar store) into the shape of a puffy cloud. Cut out raindrops in blue poster board, and write a welcoming message with a white or silver paint pen. Tape or tie the drops onto your foam core cloud, using thin ribbon or string, adding a loop at the top to hang your cloud. Glue cotton onto the front of your cloud, and allow to dry. Lovely!

Here's a fun way to decorate at your rainy umbrella party!
Hang several strands of fishing line or thread in a row by a window sill or dessert table. Using a paper punch, create a number of blue circles, run glue stick on one circle, and sandwich the string between it and another circle.
You can also hang pretty umbrellas from fishing line or string as well. The umbrella shown features colorful buttons hot-glued onto the side to create the first initial of the birthday girl/boy.

As shown, using paper punch, punch out semi-circles in craft paper. Trim the straight edge with craft scissors, and rub the papers on a stamp pad along the edges to create a shadowy 3-d look. Tape toothpicks on the back and voila! Miniature umbrellas!

An important motif at any rain + umbrella baby shower, bridal shower, or other party, are the raindrops themselves. And with such a distinctive shape, you can color them any color of the rainbow -- whatever your party's color scheme may be!
