This Great Cake Contest entry was submitted by fblonde20 from Rosedale, Virginia: My son is obsessed with army stuff. And I ask him what he wanted on his cake and he wanted a army tank. And I couldn't find one to suit me. So I made it.

What you'll need

  • Yellow cake Mix. Chocolate cake mix. Wilton's food coloring in black and purple. Cake sheet. Fondant, Oreo cookies. (with peanut butter)icing of your choice. army men for decorations. Powdered sugar. Cereal sticks

How to make it

  1. Bake the yellow cake in a 9x13 pan. Bake the chocolate cake in a bread pan. Then let them cool over night in the freezer. Make sure to spray the pans really good. Take the remaining cake mix and put it into a glass bowl and bake it. Freeze all of them. The next day flip them out of the pan. And crave the yellow cake to the shape of the bottom of a tank. then do the same with the chocolate cake. sit it on top of the yellow cake. a cup of warm water close. Use a plastic cake spatula.

  2. Then cut the bowl cake into a smaller circle for the top of the tank. Put it on top of the chocolate cake. then you have your army tank. Next mix the food coloring the purple and green will Make the color for the tank. Keep Dip it into the warm water and that will keep the icing from making the cake fall apart. After you get the green you want start putting it on. Then stick a army man into the top of the circle. Stick a Oreo behind him for a door

  3. Then spread the fondant out onto a powdered sugar surface and use a rolling pin to roll it out and knead it to make it more workable. Then put some of the black die into it to make the tracks. roll it out I measured it about 1 in across and then take a pizza cutter and cut slits into it really easy. That will give you the track. Take 4 Oreos and cut the top off of them to make them flat. Stick them onto the bottom of the tank.

  4. cake and lay the tracks on top of the Oreos. Next you can make the star out of the fondant. And just stick it onto the side of the tank. Next I took the cereal stick and rolled it in the fondant. Than colored it the same color as the And stick it into the front of the cake. Then crush all of the remaining Oreos. Take some of the cake icing that is unused. And color it like dirt brown. Then spread it onto the cake sheet.

  5. That makes the Oreos stick to it. Then spread the crushed Oreos all over the cake sheet. And add all of the army men. Guns however you want to decorate it. And enjoy.
