What you'll need

  • 4 Boxes of white cake, 1 box of pound cake, 1 sugar cone, lots of icing, food color, 6 small dowel rods (find in cake section at a craft store)

How to make it

  1. Prepare layer cakes with box mixes of white cake. The best sizes are a 12 inch and a 6 inch. Allow to cool completely. Prepare teddy bear using Wilton's teddy bear mold and pound cake mix. Be sure to grease the bear well so he comes out of the pan whole. Allow to cool completely.

  2. Color "base" icing desired color. In the sample it is pink. Frost the layer cakes with base color. Insert dowels into each layer for support. Using desired color add a border to layer cakes. Also all polka dots and a message.

  3. Place teddy bear on top of assembled layers. Using a "hair or grass" tip give your teddy fur in brown icing or chocolate. Use a spatula and smooth feet pads and ears with a lighter brown. Use black to give eyes, nose, and trace a mouth. Using a spatula smooth base color over sugar cone. Firmly press onto teddy's head. Using a star tip give the hat a brim and top."
