Snacks in a Snap: Irresistible Bacon & Cheese Pinwheels

My daughter loves having brunch together as a family, especially when she gets to help make the food! This is one of her (and the whole family's) favorite recipes.

They're quick, easy and delicious -- and work especially well for any kid-friendly brunch.

My daughter likes us to trim off a little of the dough, which she uses to make tiny rolls on a separate baking dish, since they're cooked in a minute or two (we use a toy metal baking tray).

Altogether, these cheesy, bacon-y pastries are perfect for a brunch for her, several dolls, and a few family and friends.


What you'll need

  • 1 package frozen puffed pastry dough (about 14 ounces)
  • 1/2 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 3 or 4 slices of cooked bacon, chopped (optionally, you could leave this out, or use ham, sausage, or other meats)

How to make it

  1. On a lightly-floured surface, unroll/unfold your pastry dough.

  2. Cheese + Bacon Puff Pastry Pinwheel Rolls

    Sprinkle with shredded cheese and bacon pieces.

  3. Roll it up tightly and trim off any uneven ends.

  4. Slice into half-inch "rolls."

    Place slices on a cookie sheet lined with either parchment paper or a silicone mat. Even if they don't look perfect, they'll still look great when baked.

  6. Bake at 375 degrees for 20 minutes. The pastry dough should be golden brown and the cheese should have a nice golden color.

  7. Serve while warm, or they keep well over the next day. Enjoy your brunch!
