Coating bite-size pieces of homemade brittle with a layer of chocolate makes a treat that's even more special. This confection makes a delightful holiday gift.
Line a baking sheet with waxed paper and set it aside. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the chocolate chips and shortening, then microwave the mixture uncovered on medium-high for 1 minute. Stir it, then microwave it in 10-second intervals, stirring between each one, until the mixture is smooth.
Let it cool slightly, then dip the brittle into the melted chocolate. Shake off the excess and place the candy pieces on the prepared baking sheet. Refrigerate the brittle until the chocolate is set, about 5 minutes.
