Pumpkin fare, apple pie, pecan pie are traditional dessert recipes on Thanksgiving. Add a dollop of whipped cream and you have a basic description of the Thanksgiving treats that most Americans enjoy. But, sometimes you want something a little different, and Cranberry Orange Tarts totally fit the bill.

Prepare the Puff Pastry Shells according to package directions.

Bake them and cool them.

Remove the center of the pastry shell. This can be done several hours in advance, if desired.

Meanwhile, prepare the orange cream: combine the cream cheese, sugar, orange zest and whipped topping or whipped cream in a medium bowl. Beat it with an electric mixer (either a handheld or a stand mixer will work) until light and fluffy (about 2-4 minutes). Be sure to scrape down the bowl during the process.

Assemble and plate the dessert: line up 6 plates on your counter, and arrange one puff pastry shell on each of the 6 plates. Divide the orange cream evenly among the shells, spooning about one heaping tablespoon into each. Finally, spoon a tablespoon or two of the whole berry cranberry sauce onto each of the shells. If desired, also spoon one or two cranberries onto the plate.
Serve immediately.
