While heating plenty of oil in a large skillet or fryer, chop onion and shrimp.
Place cream cheese in a bowl and mix thoroughly with the onion and shrimp.
Take a tablespoon of filling mixture and place in center of wonton wrapper, then fold the two corners towards each other to form wontons. Use a bit of water to seal edges.
Repeat this process until all the cheese mixture is used. (you may have leftover wrappers ... save them for another batch or double the cheese mixture.)
When oil is hot, fry wontons in small batches, turning them when golden.
Wontons should be golden on both sides.
Quickly remove them with from the oil and place on absorbent towels to drain excess oil.
Serve immediately and watch your guests' faces when they say "MMMMM this is good!!"
