Getting Started

Most decorated cookies are based on the basic sugar cookie. Whether you use our classic recipe, or your own family secret, this recipe forms the foundation for all of the endless decorating variations that you can try.

Where to Get Cookie Decorating Supplies:

  • Supermarkets carry basic sprinkles and deco shapes, along with a small selection of basic cookie cutters.
  • Craft stores carry a wider range of cookie cutters, icings, candies, and other supplies.
  • Look for dedicated cake decorating shops in your area. These shops often carry supplies that can be used for both cakes and cookies, as well as some cookie-specific supplies.
  • There are plenty of cookie-decorating suppliers online. Just be sure to allow enough time for your supplies to arrive before you need them.
