Disney Cars Cake

This Great Cake Contest entry was submitted by firecop311 from Centerville, Ohio: This is 2 tiered cars cake iced with buttercream icing.

What you'll need

  • I used one box Duncan Heinz cake (mix only) added 4 eggs 1 cup cold water and one pack of dream whip.
  • I used this recipe for both the top and bottom layer cakes

How to make it

  1. After both mixes are mixed pour batters into greased (2) 8" rounds and (1) 10" round cake pan and bake at 325 for 35 minutes. remove from pan after baking and let cool.

  2. I iced both cakes in white buttercream icing and accented the sides with checkerboard ribbon to look like a race flag. (I found at a local craft store) The road way on the top of the lower cake is black sugar sprinkles and the border around the track are m & m's. I covered the center of the stand with more checkered ribbon and used Oreo cookies to look like tires.

  3. I then assembled both cakes on the cake stand and accented with different colors of icings, I then used real Disney CARS on the race track. The top cake has 2 race flags inserted thru the cake and a store bought CARS candle.
