Edible Magic Wands

These glittery cookie wands are the perfect teatime treat at a fairy-themed birthday party. Serve them along with tiny cups of colorful juice and berries dipped in pink chocolate.

We tied some curly ribbon to each wand for extra enchantment, then displayed them in a vase.

What you'll need

  • Sugar cookie dough (one 16-1/2-ounce package yields 24 wands) Or, try our easy sugar cookie dough.
  • Star-shaped cookie cutter
  • Bamboo skewers
  • White frosting (tinted with food coloring if desired)
  • Edible glitter and sprinkles

How to make it

  1. Heat the oven to 350°. Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to 1/8-inch thickness. Cut out stars with the cookie cutter.

  2. Place half the stars on a cookie sheet and press a skewer into each one. Top them with the remaining stars so that each skewer is sandwiched between the two layers.

  3. Bake the cookies until they're light brown around the edges, about 9 minutes. Allow the wands to cool for 3 minutes on the sheet before placing them on a wire cooling rack.

  4. When the wands have cooled, frost them and decorate them with the edible glitter and sprinkles.
