Gator Cake

This Great Cake Contest entry was submitted by Jake-Bake from Shererville, Indiana: Dad Lad Cake Bake

What you'll need

  • Two boxes of cake mix, jelly beans, cookies, frosting, fondant, food coloring, pretzel sticks, licorice.

How to make it

  1. Make two 9x11 cakes, following the instructions. Cut out a paper template of an alligator. Cut the cakes into the form of the gator. Using the left over cake to fill in the head and body.

  2. Frost the entire form. Place round cookies down the body and tail. Cover entire body with fondant. Cut out slits for the eyes and nostrils. Use jelly beans and licorice to make eyes, nostrils and claws. Decorate the board with frosting, pretzels and spouts. Use candy hearts to make the teeth.

  3. Use fondant to shape into a fish and color with food coloring. The scales and fins are scored with a knife prior to coloring. Not bad for a dude!
