Gingerbread Cake

What you'll need

  • 2 yellow or white cake mixes baked as per recipe instructions. Do not use chocolate cake.
  • Butter cream Icing Doubled
  • 1 C shortening
  • 1 C Butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 4 C powdered Sugar
  • 2 T milk

How to make it

  1. bake cakes in Wilton Gingerbread House cake pan. Let cool about 5 hours. Stand cake pans up next to each other and put together with icing.

  2. Spread white icing on cake for doors and windows. Mix green icing and decorate the house with star tip # 16 going around door and windows but not covering them up. Ice top of cake using a knife with white icing. Fluff it to make it look like snow.

  3. Line top of house with jelly beans. Go around windows with mini M & M's Go around door with red mini M & M's. Put candy canes on the side of the house. Use licorice strips for the windows. Put big Green gum drops in front of house for trees. White icing on cake board for snow. Vanilla wafers in snow for path.

  4. Snowman is optional Bake two cupcakes. Cut one cupcake to make it smaller for head. Put small cupcake on larger one. Pipe in eyes and mouth. Star tip white with # 16 for body and head. Use toothpicks for arms. Hat can be any decoration you have around.
