It can be tough to eat veggies in the winter, but they're fantastic with a little bit of honey.

What you'll need

  • 2 to 2-1/2 cups pared, seeded and cubed winter squash
  • 1 turnip, pared and cubed
  • 2 carrots, sliced
  • 1 small onion, quartered
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tbsp. butter or margarine, melted
  • 1 tsp. grated orange peel
  • 1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg

How to make it

  1. In a covered skillet, steam squash, turnip, carrots and onion in 1 inch of boiling water about 5 minutes, or until tender. Drain. In a small bowl, combine honey, butter or margarine, orange peel and nutmeg. Drizzle over vegetables and toss to coat in heated serving dish. Makes 4 to 6 servings.
