This Great Cake Contest entry was submitted by yessamiam from Clarence, New York: We were having a bowling bday party. We needed a cake for the occasion- WaLa. A cake that fit the party, a bowling pin and ball.
Take 9x13 cake and shape into the shape of a bowling pin. Start the design at the top/tall end of the cake. Frost completely with white frosting. Wrap red fruit roll up (may need to thin width of fruit roll-up down so that it isn't so thick) around the neck of the bowling pin. Next take round cake pan and snug up to the bowling pin. You may have to adjust/remove a small section of the circle to get the "ball" up close to the bowling pin.
Carefully then frost bowling ball w/chocolate frosting. Careful overlap the chocolate & white frosting. Place 3 disk shaped white candies on ball in pattern of finger hole placement on ball. Add smiling birthday girl and friends!
