This Great Cake Contest entry was submitted by dianeclark67 from Orchard Park, New York: My son was having a mad scientist-themed birthday party. I made him a flask that smoked and bubbled over with fizzy green goo.
What you'll need
- 2 bundt cakes (mine were marble)
- Chocolate frosting for filling
- White frosting for flask
- Green tinted frosting for "liquid" at the bottom
- Various other colors for piping
- Plastic PVC pipe for neck of flask
- Plastic cup at top of PVC pipe to hold bubbling liquid
- Dry ice
- Powdered egg white
- Hot water
How to make it
Two marble bundt cakes formed the base of the flask - one upside down and one right side up with chocolate frosting in between.
I used white PVC pipe for the neck of the flask with a child's plastic cup attached to the top.
The cup was filled with powdered egg white, hot water, food coloring and dry ice. The dry ice smoked and the green liquid bubbled over, but did not effect the taste of the marble cake at all.
