Medieval Castle Cake

This Great Cake Contest entry was submitted by jnmdpm from Dade City, Florida: medieval castle made for grandsons birthday, with dragon and knights.
 

What you'll need

  • 6 boxes of cake mix
  • 2 recipes of buttercream icing
  • 1 mm fondant
  • Toy dragon and knights
  • Wilton castle kit

How to make it

  1. make 3 10x10 cakes 2 inches high cut one of the cakes in half. stack, leaving the extra cake for edge around mote. bake 3 6x6 cakes 2 inch high cut one in half, again leaving extra for around mote. Icing all the cakes and stack. I used Wilton castle kit for the towers covered in fondant , I also cut squares and covered in fondant for around castle tops.

  2. I piped in icing for vines and leaves up castle walls. surround castle with extra pieces of cake and fill in space with light blue icing for mote and cover cake with green for grass. color and cut fondant for windows and doors and draw bridge and apply with light brushing of water. top cake with dragon and knights."
