This Great Cake Contest entry was submitted by queenscreations from woolrich, Pennsylvania: I made this for my mom for mother's day. She's an avid bird watcher.
What you'll need
- 2 boxes cake mix
- Green butter cream icing
- Yellow and blue fondant
- black icing dye
How to make it
Prepare both cake mixes according to packages. Poor into a Wonder Mold Pan or SS bowl. Bake. Roll balls of blue fondant to make blue bird's bodies and heads. Taper balls for top of head. Form 2 yellow cones with fondant. Stick to face. Press head into body. Shape wings and add on bird. Use toothpick to add eyes with black icing dye.
After cake has cooled, pipe green icing (with leaf tip) in layers onto cake.
Add blue birds!
