This Great Cake Contest entry was submitted by Kristen_DeBeer from HIghlands Ranch, Colorado: I baked this fun cake as a going away gift for neighbors who moved out of state.
Bake cake in 9x13 pan according to package directions.
Slice rounded top of cake off to make it level, reserving the top. Then cut cake, dividing the 13 inch side into four equal rectangular sections. Then cut the fourth section into 2 equal sections. Finally cut one of the 2 small sections in half again.
Stack the 3 large rectangular sections on top of one another, sandwiching them with frosting to make the trailer portion of the truck. Stack the two smallest sections together on top of the medium sized section to make the cab of the truck. Cut small sections of the rounded cake top to place on top of the cab and the cab's hood to create a rounded edge. Sandwich all cab pieces together with frosting as well.
Frost the entire cake with white frosting, reserving about 1 cup. Tint the remaining frosting the colors of the moving company's logo and use a decorator bag and tip to pipe on the logo design. Break the Twix bar in half and stick each half to the sides of the cab as exhaust pipes. Add M&M candies for headlights and tail lights, and donuts for wheels."
