PacMan Cake

This Great Cake Contest entry was submitted by melindaleefamily from Oak Hill, Virginia: Create these unique and easy cakes with PacMan and the "ghosts" chasing after him! An alternative would be to make individual PacMan cupcakes.

What you'll need

  • Use 2 boxes of yellow cake mix, chocolate frosting (I used store bought), white frosting (store bought) mixed with food coloring to create the colors (I used blue, green, and red.)

How to make it

  1. Bake one box of yellow cake mix in a 9X13 pan. Bake 2nd box in 2 round pans. Cool. Frost both (separately) with the chocolate frosting (the round cake was layered.) Prepare a bag of yellow, green and blue frosting (I used pastry bags and frosting star tips.)

  2. Make template of "ghosts" by placing the bottom of a mug (or any round cup) on cardboard to create "head" of ghost. Free-hand draw the body and squiggly bottom. I taped a small "tab" to back of template so that I could hold onto it. Use toothpick to evenly space out and "draw" ghost figures onto 9X13 cake. Fill in with colored frosting (I used a star tip.) Place M&M's as eyes. Pipe in mouth with chocolate frosting.

  3. I used a star tip for the yellow Pac Man. Just follow circular line of round cake. Pipe in stars to fill out Pac Man. Place M&M as eyes. Make a smaller ghost (mine was free-hand) and pipe in color, mouth, M&M eyes. Optional: pipe chocolate stars around the characters. I used gift wrap to cover a piece of cardboard for the base (cover with colored plastic wrap.) Done!"
