Pink guitar Cake

This Great Cake Contest entry was submitted by brookez01 from arnold, Maryland: A great cake for your little rock star!

What you'll need

  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • acoustic guitar pan
  • 1 tub white fondant
  • 1 can pink colour mist edible spray paint
  • 1 bag milk chocolate pieces
  • 1 bottle of pink edible glitter
  • 1 tube white icing
  • 1 bottle of mixed spring shaped sprinkles
  • 1 container purple food dye
  • 1 Tbsp butter
  • 1 tube dot sprinkles

How to make it

  1. Bake cake as directed in guitar pan. Let the cake cool.

  2. Roll out fondant to about 1/8" and lay over the cake carefully tucking in the sides. Spray paint the entire cake with the color mist.

  3. Melt 5 tbsp chocolate chips with 1 tbsp butter until creamy in a double boiler and paint the neck, bridge and sound hole with the mixture using a medium paint brush. Use dot sprinkles for fret marks.

  4. Roll a small amount of fondant into a circle, the same size as the sound hole. Wet slightly with water and cover with the edible glitter to resemble abalone. Lay it gently around the hole.

  5. Pipe white icing for strings and frets. Also use white icing around the edge to hold on butterfly and flower sprinkles.

  6. Paint on a message or their name with a smaller brush and food color (dye).

  7. Add small cinnamon candies at the top of strings and one at the bottom for the strap button.

  8. Enjoy all of your friends asking how you did it yourself!
