This Great Cake Contest entry was submitted by atomikjen from Medford, New York: Any little girl always dreams of being a princess, she should get a castle for her birthday!

What you'll need

  • 2 boxes of delicious yellow cake mix
  • chocolate Bavarian creme filling
  • Waffle cones
  • 2 boxes rice crispy cereal
  • 6 bags mini marshmallows

How to make it

  1. Make towers using homemade rice crispy treats cut out with a small biscuit cutter, assemble together with toothpicks or bamboo skewers. On top of towers, fill waffle cones with rice crispy treats. Cover towers and cones with marshmallow fondant and press tower pieces after covered with a brick pattern press. On cones covered with MMF, paint birthday girl's favorite color or to match theme of party.

  2. For upper layer, press RCT into 3 8" square pans and put two together. The third, cut to make a "tent" shape for roof. Cover box with MMF and press with brick pattern. Paint roof with bday girl's fav. color or theme color. Cut out corners to allow towers to fit inset into top layer.

  3. On cake base cover with MMF and press with stone pattern. Bake 2 12" cake hexagons. Once cooled, torte and fill with favorite filling. Cover with MMF and press with brick pattern. Cut out corners to fit remaining towers. Assembly: Place hexagon on prepared cake board. Insert dowels to support weight of upper layer of "cake" (RCT). Add finishing touches. Paint stones, add windows. Finish off with pearl dust to give it sparkle (magic)."
