Makes 1/4 cup

Little ones love the interactive pleasures of dipping, and this mild bean puree keeps the wholesome factor high. Serve it with whole-grain bagels or steamed veggies for the younger set, while older kids might enjoy carrot sticks and cucumber slices. Try our other kid-friendly delicious purees, too: Carrot-Ginger Dip and Dilly Cucumber Dip.

What you'll need

  • 1 (14- or 15-ounce) can white beans (we like great northern or navy), rinsed and drained
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt (see tip below)
  • 1/4 teaspoon finely chopped fresh rosemary
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice, plus 1/2 teaspoon of grated zest
  • 1 small garlic clove, pressed (optional)
Helpful Tip:

Don't have kosher salt? Substitute table salt; just use half the recommended amount.

How to make it

  1. Blend all the ingredients in a food processor until smooth. Add a tablespoon or two of hot water if the dip doesn't become creamy.
