Sesame Street Cake

This Great Cake Contest entry was submitted by rmellace from san marcos, California: This cake is great for any kid that loves Sesame Street and can be customized to their birthday and favorite characters.

What you'll need

  • Store bought half sheet cake
  • runts candies
  • gummy alphabet letters
  • wafer cookies
  • chocolate frosting
  • chow mein noodles
  • decorators frosting
  • 8 1/2" x 11" paper (3)
  • crayons or markers
  • character figurines

How to make it

  1. Measure the width of the cake and cut papers to match.

  2. I drew the facades of the Sesame Street buildings on the papers using an image I downloaded off of the internet. I used to have the Sesame Street playhouse and so I copied that as a tribute to my childhood!

  3. Frost the outside and inside of a small bowl, I used a Pyrex dish, with the chocolate frosting and then placed the chow mein noodles into the frosting. Place Big Bird's nest in front of the alley.

  4. Place the wafers on top of each other to make a fruit stand. (Two on the bottom and one on top.) Use frosting to hold them together and frost the outsides. Place it in front of Mr. Hooper's Store.

  5. Use the runts candies to make a fruit display. Use frosting to hold them together if need be.

  6. Place the figurines around the top of the cake and frost the message. Customize the letter and number of the day to match your child's name and age.

  7. Place the gummy letters around the outside of the cake. The bolder colors look better, as you can see the "F" is hard to see.
