This Great Cake Contest entry was submitted by momof4greeleyboys from Williamsville, New York: My Son Was turning 6 & wanted a solar system Cake. I could not really find one anywhere so I came up with this cake. The kids loved it!
What you'll need
- 2 boxes of cake mix
- Frosting to frost entire cake
- Frosting for decorating
- Planets (Toys R Us)
- food coloring
- sprinkles
- star decorating tip & bag
How to make it
Bake cake as directed using a half sheet cake pan or 2 9x13 inch pans. Cool. Frost cake using chocolate or a dark color.
Color frosting yellow, orange color for the sun. Using star tip pipe on the sun. Place the planets on cake. Using the star tip with white frosting, make a bunch of stars. Use sprinkles to add color. You can create meteors or other things in the universe-have fun!"
