When I was growing up this was the fudge served for every holiday that called for it. I would watch Mom with eagle eyes, begging to lick the bowl clean. Once cut, it never lasted long and still doesn't in my own home.
Yield: 36 one-inch squares
Heat condensed milk in a small saucepan until hot. Remove from heat and add vanilla, salt and chocolate.
Stir until chocolate melts.
Stir in nuts and pour into a 9x9 pan fitted with waxed or parchment paper. Refrigerate -- covered tightly -- until firm, about 1 hour.
Turn onto a cutting board and cut into squares with a sharp knife.
