Sweet Stinky! Cake

This Great Cake Contest entry was submitted by Noosies from Long Island, New York: Made for a wife who is affectionately called "stinky" by her husband! Really fun cake to do.

  • 2 teaspoons real vanilla
  • 2 teaspoons almond extract
  • 2 cups sour cream
  • 8 large egg white
  • Buttercream
  • Black & White Fondant
  • Rice Krispie Treats

How to make it

  1. Place all dry ingredients in a large mixing bowl and stir together with a wire whisk. Add the remaining ingredients and beat on medium speed for 2 minutes. Pour into greased and floured cake pans, filling each pan a little over half full. Bake in preheated 325F oven until cake tests done. Pour into 2 8" round pans and one 9x13.

  2. Cut one of you 8" rounds in half. Put buttercream on one half and place other half on top. Place on Cake board towards one end so the curve side is facing up. Take second 8" round and cut in 1/4's. Place a quarter on each side of the inverted half towards the rear and front. these will be the thighs and paws of your skunk.

  3. Mold Skunk head out of Rice Krispies. Cover in a thin layer of buttercream and cover with black fondant. Cover body with buttercream. Attack head with skewer to body than drape the rest of the body with the black fondant.

  4. Cut out a tail from the 9x13 cake, cover with buttercream and drape with fondant. Attach to body. Take strips of frayed white fondant and place a strip along back and tail. Using a small plastic wheel cutter gently roll back and forth on fondant to create fur effect. Add bow, flowers or anything else to doll up little stinky!"
