This Great Cake Contest entry was submitted by wolfiemw from Boothwyn, Pennsylvania: My son is really into wrestling but it's really hard to find party supplies. So we decided to make our own wrestling ring as decoration for his cake.
What you'll need
- it's two regular cakes, some chocolate sticks, licorice whips, small chocolate bars, tootsie rolls and some icing
How to make it
Put an 8x8 cake on top of an iced 1/2 sheet cake and cover it with icing. I used color icing on the sides of the top cake for the sides of the ring.
insert the chocolate sticks (FYI- if you'll be somewhere warm use something that won't melt like pretzel rods or long Tootsie Rolls) - in the 4 corners of the top cake. Use icing to attach the licorice whips around the 4 corners and make 3 separate ropes.
use the Tootsie Rolls with icing to make the corner stairs. you can also use them as a base for a table with a chocolate bar laid on top.
we then propped up micro sized wrestlers on the cake to look like a match was happening
