I love being creative with my kids and making "stuff" but I have to admit that at times the mess associated with creative projects can be irksome. Every once in a while I need a quick and clever "no mess" project to do with my three boys ages 9, 5 and just under 2 years old. I found water painting to be a great activity. No paint needed. Just a cup, an old set of various-sized brushes and the driveway, sidewalk, or brick wall becomes our canvas. Certain cement or stone surfaces get much darker when wet so experiment to find the best surface to create your minute masterpieces. The fun challenge is to see how much you can draw before the water starts to evaporate. I also take pictures along the way with my smartphone to record the painting session in its entirety. It's so easy, anyone can do it and the cleanup fades away on its own. How many crafts can you say that about?
You could play water Tic Tac Toe or have your child practice writing their name.
